We’re hiring multiple Junior and Mid-level Engineers to join our small-but-excellent team. You don’t need to arrive with all the answers – we’re looking for people with curiosity and the motivation to become strong full-stack engineers over time.

Here’s what the role involves:

  • Building features end-to-end. You’ll work across our Ruby on Rails backend, React web app, and React Native mobile apps (iOS and Android) and gain exposure to our full engineering stack.
  • Understanding how product decisions are made. You’ll collaborate with designers and product managers, learning how we identify customer problems and decide what to build.
  • Participating in technical discussions. You’ll be part of conversations about architecture, tradeoffs, and implementation approaches alongside the rest of the engineering team.
  • Seeing how our software is used. You’ll visit our customers at some of the largest construction projects across Australia and observe them working with the product. This helps us stay connected to real problems.
  • Receiving structured support. Dave Allie (CTO and Co-founder) and Max Wheeler (Head of Engineering) are both still hands-on, and you’ll be supported through pairing, code reviews, and regular 1:1s.

In the role you can expect to develop:

  • Experience shipping production code in a Rails/React/React Native stack
  • An understanding of engineering tradeoffs – when to prioritise speed versus long-term maintainability
  • Practical testing skills – learning when and why to write tests, not just the mechanics
  • Familiarity with AI development tools
  • Experience collaborating with designers and product managers

Some of the projects you might work on:

  • Building AI models to understand and automatically classify the defects created during construction projects.
  • Integrating with external document libraries to make those documents available through the construction quality process.
  • Creating an end-to-end solution for data centres to commission their assets.

The team works 2-3 days a week from our brand-new headquarters in the Melbourne CBD, and we’re looking for candidate who can join us in person regularly.

About you

This role could be a good fit if:

  • You’ve built something. Web apps, mobile apps, side projects, bootcamp work – it doesn't need to be professional experience, but you’ve written code that solves a real problem.
  • You’re curious about how systems work. You read documentation, investigate problems, and ask questions when something doesn't make sense.
  • You’re self-motivated and can work independently. You take initiative to get what you need to work efficiently, and you call for support when required.
  • You communicate clearly. You can explain your reasoning, ask for help when needed, and handle feedback constructively.
  • You’re comfortable with uncertainty. You’ll encounter unfamiliar tools, new codebases, and difficult problems. That's expected.
  • You think about the end user. You consider how your work affects customers, not just whether the code runs.
  • You’re looking to grow. You want to become a better engineer, and you’re looking for an environment that will help you get there.

While we use a range of specific technologies (React, TypeScript, Ruby and Rails, GraphQL) you don’t need to have direct experience with them for this position and there’ll be opportunities to learn as part of the role. Solid fundamentals and willingness to learn are more important.

Note that you must have permanent, unrestricted working rights in Australia. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Our culture and perks
