7+ years in accounting or financial management, with proven experience overseeing operational finance in start-ups or scale-ups, ideally enterprise SaaS.
ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualification required.
Advanced expertise in Xero, with experience managing global operations across the UK, Australia and the US.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance and internal controls.
Proven ability to manage external bookkeeping or accounting service providers.
Experience with HubSpot, Gusto (US HR/payroll), ApprovalMax and Subscript highly desirable.
Hands-on, proactive problem-solver, comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and delivering in a dynamic environment.
Operational Finance
Xero Accounting: manage the finance team to ensure continuity and accuracy of invoicing, bills and banking procedures.
Reporting and SaaS Metrics: maintain accurate, timely financial reporting, consolidations, budget management, SaaS reporting tools and revenue recognition.
Payroll: oversee payroll across the UK, Australia and the US
Banking and Treasury: manage banking relationships and treasury operations across multiple regions.
Support automations within the finance function (revenue recognition tools, ApprovalMax and other systems) to drive efficiency.
Reporting, Compliance and Controls
Ensure accurate, timely month-end processes, global consolidation and FX management.
Oversee compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including taxation, reporting standards and timely lodgements.
Collaborate with external accountants and the wider team on grant applications (e.g. R&D) and filing of statutory returns.
Identify financial risks and uphold governance frameworks and internal controls to balance accuracy with pace.
Scaling and Process Improvement
Drive process improvements and optimise financial systems to support scalability and growth.
Strategic Finance and Commercial Partnering
In partnership with the CFO and other Executives, take a supporting role across:
FP&A: budgeting processes, financial reporting and SaaS metrics-based analysis.
Board Packs: first drafts of Board reporting, with finance commentary supported by the CFO.
Finance Ops: work with RevOps to systemise pricing models and customer commercials, enabling product-level FP&A.
Support strategic initiatives including capital raising, due diligence, annual budgets, monthly reporting and Board analysis.
Provide commentary on monthly SaaS and KPI metrics.
Team Leadership
Directly oversee one FTE, mentoring and guiding them to high performance.
Manage relationships with outsourced bookkeepers, external consultants and accountants to ensure seamless service delivery.
Communicate financial insights and recommendations clearly to senior management and other stakeholders.
