Meet the AI Paralegal team 

The AI Paralegal team is a high-energy, high-agency team which operates independently within CORTO/LEAP and has full ownership of the AI Paralegal product. We’re an all-star team of senior heavy hitters working at the bleeding edge of AI in legal practice.

We operate the team like a startup and have startup-sized ambitions for growth and impact. Our work is deeply purposeful in moving the needle on access to justice in Australia, but we have a fun culture that involves lots of dinners and cocktails.

What you’ll do

As our first design hire you’ll play a key role in creating an elegant, delightful experience across multiple touch points. As the go-to for all things experience, you’ll operate more like a consultant than a cog and share ownership with the engineers in building something remarkable.

To make this happen you will

• Start from first principles to define the visual language and articulate the core design principles
• Bring it to life with tight execution and animation to make it feel world-class
• Establish new interaction paradigms for how humans work with autonomous AI
• Work closely with our customers to deeply understand their needs and come up with surprising insights
• Work closely with the engineers to workshop solutions in real time, give feedback along the way, and continuously iterate to move the metrics in the right direction 

What you’ll bring

• A minimum of 5-10 year’s experience, including end-to-end projects calling the shots on the creative direction
• A portfolio with at least a few pieces of remarkable work and some war stories about what it took to create it
• The ability to own design end-to-end, from driving high-level creative direction to obsessing over pixels and everything in between
• A deep understanding of interaction design and the dynamics of working in a digital medium
• The energy and curiosity to tackle problems from first principles and come up with surprising insights and solutions
• The ability to inspire other members on the team and get them excited about your creative vision
• Legal experience is a bonus - but your superpower is product; you design first and foremost for humans so learning new domains and designing for them is in your DNA

• Likes to collaborate and doesn’t mind travelling from time to time to work face to face with the team
• Is not afraid to change your mind; you have strong beliefs weakly held
• Sees chaos and the lack of formal structure as a feature rather than a bug
• Doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty
• Feels physical pain if the experience isn’t right - but has the maturity and commercial nous to know how and when to compromise
• Is an independent thinker happy to start from nothing; in fact you probably prefer it that way
• Understands that AI is about to change everything and already has some opinions on how you think it will work
