Spike: The hard part isn't the AI. It's the data. You'll work with unstructured, incomplete, real-world input from families under stress, and ship experiences that feel calm, clear, and trustworthy on the other side. That gap between messy input and refined output is where most of the engineering judgment lives.

About indi

indi is the shared AI assistant for child development - built to support the parents, carers, and clinicians navigating complex health journeys with kids who don't fit the mould.

We take messy, unstructured real-life data and turn it into a structured, living record of a child - one that can be visualised, shared, and actioned by everyone in their world. From that single source of truth, indi generates custom artefacts and communication tools tailored to each part of the care team: educators, therapists, doctors, support workers. This unlocks clarity, coordination, and earlier intervention.

At the same time, we're building indi as a true assistant for parents - helping reduce the mental load, support emotional wellbeing, and remind them they're not in this alone.

The team

We're a small but mighty team of six, with backgrounds across SafetyCulture, ASOS, Macquarie Bank, Accenture, ANZ and QBE. 4 ex-founders + 4 parents = 6 people who've both built companies and raised children. Overlaps that create meaningful edges. Pre-seed round completed, because our impact can't be ignored.

We're looking for someone who builds from database schema to AI pipeline to polished UI without hand-offs. If you want to own the entire arc of a feature from prototype to production, we'd love to see what you've shipped.

What you'll do

• Work directly with clinical and family data: incomplete, emotional, unstructured. Turn it into something a tired parent can act on.
• Build and ship AI features end-to-end, from data pipeline to UI, without hand-offs
• Maintain eval frameworks where the bar is higher than most. The families using this are making real decisions about their kids.

• Cloud infra (Fly.io, Docker, Postgres)
• AI tooling (Pydantic, Anthropic)

What we're looking for

Must-haves:

• Shipped AI-native products with custom models and evals
• A personal workflow for AI-assisted development that makes you faster
• Care about the societal impacts and ethics of your work

Bonuses:

• Experience in health, education, or family-focused products
• Background in data science / ML to drive product decisions
• Good judgment on when to use frameworks vs. keep it simple. We care more about how you think than your toolkit.
