Our innovative AI solutions automate routine tasks, simplify document management, and enhance decision-making, allowing legal professionals to focus on what they do best—providing expert legal counsel.
We’re rapidly scaling from 80 to 150+ employees, with a highly technical workforce where around 90% of the team are developers and engineers. Working alongside our Sydney-based team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things rarely stay the same for long - and if you’re smart, caring, and ambitious, you’ll be in great company.
Meet the Quality Engineering team
You’ll join the Quality Engineering function within our Accounting group, focused on ensuring the quality and reliability of CORTO’s next generation of accounting products for legal professionals. This team supports both brand‑new CORTO accounting solutions and accounting functionality used by the wider user base.
The environment is fast‑moving and product‑heavy, with multiple new products and features being built from the ground up. You’ll be working across greenfield initiatives and evolving platforms, helping establish testing frameworks, improving quality practices, and shaping how quality engineering scales as the product portfolio grows.
What you’ll do
As a Lead Quality Engineer, you’ll be a hands‑on technical leader responsible for driving automation strategy, making decisions on frameworks and tooling, and leading a team of 4–5 Quality Engineers.
You’ll balance deep technical involvement with people leadership, helping the team deliver high‑quality outcomes while setting direction for how automation and testing evolve across products and AI systems.
This role suits someone who enjoys owning complex decisions, guiding others, and staying close to the code - someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, influencing product quality at scale, and building capability as the organisation grows.
To make this happen you will:
- Lead and coordinate the Quality Engineering team to ensure quality outcomes are delivered across multiple products and priorities to achieve individual and company level Top 5 goals
- Drive the design, implementation and continuous improvement of automated testing frameworks across web, API, mobile and AI‑enabled systems
- Create base patterns and standards for test automation, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable and fit for future growth
- Make technical decisions on automation tools, frameworks and approaches across products and AI systems
- Mentor and manage 4–5 Quality Engineers, providing coaching, feedback and day‑to‑day support
- Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions to uplift automation capability and cross‑skill the team
- Work closely with developers, DevOps and product teams to embed quality into CI/CD pipelines and delivery workflows
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QE processes, balancing speed, quality and pragmatism in a fast‑moving environment
What you’ll bring:
- Experience leading Quality Engineering teams
- Coding capability in Python, TypeScript and JavaScript
- Deep hands‑on experience with test automation across APIs, web, mobile and backend systems
- Experience designing or owning automation frameworks and technical standards
- Strong grasp of best‑practice development and quality engineering automation, especially within CI/CD
- Hands‑on experience with integration testing and supporting automation tools
- Non‑functional testing experience is highly desirable (e.g., JMeter)
- Confidence making technical decisions across products, AI systems and testing approaches
- Ability to manage competing priorities in fast‑moving, evolving environments
- Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
- Experience working with AI for testing and/or testing AI based systems (e.g. Langsmith for LLM Evaluation)
You are the type of person who
- Leads from the front while empowering others to grow
- Balances strategic thinking with hands‑on technical execution
- Makes thoughtful, pragmatic decisions rather than waiting for permission
- Cares deeply about product quality, team health, and sustainable delivery
