Vessev

At Vessev, we’re defining a new category of marine transport: hydrofoiling electric vessels that are genuinely better for people and the planet. With strong momentum, global interest, and major milestones ahead, we’re looking for a creative, high-energy Social Media Executive to capture our momentum and build our community.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the presence of a category-defining, Kiwi startup from the earliest stage. There’s so much scope to make this role your own, and we want you to create something you’re insanely proud of.

You’ll be joining a small and tight-knit marketing team that is deeply passionate about what we do, and how we can help set a better world in motion.

The role

This is an exciting, hands-on role for someone who lives and breathes social content. Not many social media roles involve flying above the waves on an electric hydrofoiling boat.

You’ll be the person capturing the daily magic of our technology and people, turning it into a constant drumbeat of engaging content. While you’ll use trends when they fit, your focus is on telling the story of Vessev and the people behind the scenes.

You’ll lead our presence on Instagram and TikTok, owning the planning, community engagement, and creative execution. You’ll work closely with our content and creative specialists to ensure everything looks good and is on brand.

What you’ll be doing
  • Social content creation: Planning, filming, and editing social-first content (primarily TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts) that showcases our vessels and the team behind them.
  • Social copywriting: Writing clear, engaging, and accurate captions that stay true to our brand voice.
  • Platform management: Owning the posting schedule and day-to-day presence on Instagram and TikTok.
  • Community management: Engaging with our audience, answering questions, and building a loyal global community.
  • Content planning: Managing the social calendar to ensure content is planned in advance, optimised for each platform, and posted at the right time.
  • Trend spotting: Keeping a pulse on social trends and cultural moments where Vessev can authentically join the conversation.
  • Reporting and insights: Tracking how our posts and channels are performing, and sharing regular updates on what’s working (and what’s not).
  • Cross-channel support:Working with the rest of the marketing team to turn big company news or technical deep-dives into punchy, social content.
About you

You don’t need to be an expert in marine, hydrofoiling, or electric transport. What matters most is that you’re intelligent, willing to muck in, and care about doing meaningful work.

You’re a creative person who knows how to create hype and tell meaningful stories through social. You’re naturally curious and take the time to understand how things work. You’ll be as interested in the engineering of our foils as you are in the engagement on a post.

You may have 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role, or you might be a graduate with a great portfolio of personal work. Either way, we’re looking for someone who is ready to jump in and help us build a global community.

We’re looking for someone with

  • Experience in social media management or content creation
  • A keen interest in technology and the ability to understand technical information.
  • Experience using TikTok and Instagram.
  • An eye for filming with a phone and the ability to use social editing tools to produce polished short-form video.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to write engaging social copy
  • A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude. We all roll up our sleeves and no job is too big or small.
About us

We’re here to set a better world in motion – cleaner air, better commutes, and deeper connections with nature and each other. Our hydrofoiling electric vessels use up to 90% less energy than traditional boats, unlocking entirely new opportunities.

We’re backed by top-tier investors including Blackbird Ventures, and our team includes talent from the America’s Cup, Rocketlab, Halter, Apple, and leading climate startups. But titles don’t matter. What matters is how we show up: with purpose, humility, and a restless optimism for what’s possible.

We’re office-first but not office-only. We believe in building together, in person, where the real magic happens. That said, we trust our team to do what’s right and we know life isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Why our people love Vessev

  • We’re building something different – from how we move on the water to the kind of team and workplace we’re creating.
  • The chance to work on technology that can drive real, lasting impact in the world.
  • A team of exceptional and collaborative humans.
  • 20 weeks fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, and 4 weeks for secondary (conditions apply).
  • Competitive salaries that reflect the value of the work.
  • Being on the water is part of our job – from trips on our vessels to our offices that border the Tamaki River.
  • And if the water’s where you want to be, you’ll be in good company. You’ll find no shortage of boaters, beach goers, sailors, foilers, surfers, and kiteboarders here.
