Letterboxd is the global social platform for film fans. Our mission is to connect people around the films and shows they love, sparking discovery, conversation, and community. From casual moviegoers to devoted cinephiles, millions of members use Letterboxd to log, rate, review, and discuss films, and to curate lists that reflect their tastes.

Headquartered in New Zealand with a growing global team, we’re building an inclusive, passionate space for storytelling and film culture.

The Role

We’re looking for a creative and adaptable Graphic Designer to join our team full-time. This New Zealand based role is responsible for producing high-quality, on-brand visual content across product, social platforms, editorial features, marketing materials, and internal presentations.

Working closely with our social and content teams, you’ll help evolve Letterboxd’s visual identity across both fast-turnaround campaigns and long-term brand initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with product designers, editorial and social producers, and the partnerships team, ensuring that every piece of creative work reinforces the strength and consistency of the Letterboxd brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create static and animated assets for Letterboxd’s social channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, X, Facebook, and more), building from established templates while contributing new creative directions as you grow in the role.
  • Develop visuals for editorial features, newsletters, and platform communications.
  • Partner with the Product Design team on product-facing visuals, including icons, illustrations, and in-app assets.
  • Design internal and external decks for partnerships, pitches, and proposals.
  • Support branded and sponsored campaign assets in collaboration with the Partnerships team.
  • Maintain brand consistency across product, marketing, editorial, and social design outputs.
  • Balance reactive, fast-turnaround requests with proactive ideation and experimentation.

Required Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating design work across digital, editorial, and product contexts.
  • Proficiency in design tools including Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Experience creating and formatting presentation decks (Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote).
  • Strong understanding of designing for multiple aspect ratios, platforms, and responsive product environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working across teams and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary degree in design or communications.
  • Familiarity with Letterboxd’s brand, tone, and community.
  • Experience collaborating with video teams or across multi-deliverable campaigns.
  • Skills in motion graphics or light animation.
  • Background in designing for film/TV brands, entertainment media, or consumer products.
  • Ability to independently pitch and execute visual concepts.
  • Proficiency creating work in languages other than English is a bonus.
