Reports to: Head of Product (Co-founder)
Purpose: Ensures design solutions meet the needs of Orah’s users and customers.
Overall Team : 40 people
Current Product Team Structure:
- 1 Head of Product (Product Manger)
- 1 Senior Product Owner
- 1 Product Analyst / Junior Product Owner
- 2 Designers
- 3 cross-functional engineering pods
Key Responsibilities
User experience & solution design
- Designing elegant solutions for complex business problems within schools
- Designing intuitive user interfaces for various personas and levels of technical abilities
- Limit confusion by communicating all product functionality, behaviours, and error states to end users
- Excellent use of design elements such as text, icons, colours, images to clearly communicate with users
Product specifications
- Producing required prototypes, diagrams and documentation for engineering teams to use
- Creating marketing and support materials when needed
- Documenting key business rules core to the understanding of the product
Cross team collaboration
- Working with Product Managers and Product Owners to understand user needs and project requirements
- Working with Engineering teams to drive understanding of intended functionality and experience
- Working with Sales and Success teams to gather feedback and produce collateral when required
UX research
- Inform design solutions with research
- Validate design solutions with user testing
- Measure design solutions with feedback and usage tracking
- Capture areas of improvement and continue to iterate and refine design solutions
- Meeting with customers regularly to stay in tune with their needs
Quality assurance
- Reviewing QAT and staging work before being deployed to production
- Ensuring actual user experience matches the design intention
Design systems and operations
- Adherence and maintenance of Orah’s design system
- Implementation of design tooling when required
- Documentation of design process when required
Technical Abilities
Problem Solving
- Drives problem solving and design solutions for new products, modules, and features
- Design elegant user interfaces for complex business rules
- Design elegant information architecture and systems for complex business rules

Candidate Profile
Must-Haves:
- Formal tertiary education in a field of design
- 5+ years of relevant work experience as a UX designer
Location & Working Hours
- New Zealand - remote (ideally based in Auckland)
- Generally working hours will be 10 am - 6 pm (NZST) Mon-Fri to overlap with development teams working in India
- 6 am start - 1 day per week when needed to meet with customers in the US timezone
- General availability for meeting with teams from different timezones (Canada, US, Australia, UK, Japan, India) on a semi-regular basis
