Projectworks

Projectworks is a fast-growing Wellington-founded software company delivering professional services automation (PSA) software for global consulting businesses who shape the world around us.

Our customers are experts in improving our physical, natural, social and technological environments - and our platform gives them the insights and efficiency to do that even better. Every member of the Projectworks team plays a meaningful role in shaping our product and helping us grow.

About the Role

As a Product Designer at Projectworks, you’ll work at the intersection of design and user research - translating business needs and user behaviours into thoughtful, engaging product experiences.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Product Design and cross-functional teams to improve usability, contribute to our design system, and use research and data to inform design decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and present journey maps, interactive prototypes, and refined user interfaces using Figma and visual copilot AI tools such as Figma Make, Bolt and Lovable to accelerate the development of early-stage concepts.
  • Conduct and synthesise user research (data insights, interviews, usability testing) and analyse behavioural data to inform and evaluate design decisions.
  • Present research insights and design recommendations.
  • Contribute to and maintain TUI, the Projectworks design system, ensuring consistency and usability across the platform.
  • Contribute to team ceremonies such as scrums and sprint planning, while staying up to date with UX trends and supporting continuous improvement in design and delivery.

You Bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience in UX and product design, ideally in a SaaS or B2B setting.
  • Advanced Figma proficiency - including creating complex components with variants, using variables and design tokens for scalability, applying auto layout for responsive design, and building interactive prototypes with advanced functionality.
  • Experience with user research and usability testing, skilled in translating insights into meaningful design improvements.
  • Strong understanding of HCI and interaction design principles, with a focus on user goals, task flows, and behaviour-driven interface patterns that reduce friction and support intuitive, purposeful experiences.
  • Solid in UX fundamentals, including user-centred design, accessibility, and information architecture.
  • Proven ability to design polished, consistent UI and visual design aligned with brand and system standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally and articulating design decisions clearly.

Attributes for Success

  • A naturally curious and empathetic mindset.
  • Comfortable balancing structure and ambiguity - can take initiative and adapt when the path isn’t fully defined.
  • Strong attention to detail and high personal standards for your work.
  • Collaborative by nature, with a desire to learn from and support others.
  • Open to feedback, with a growth mindset and a genuine interest in improving your craft.

Please note: This role is based in Wellington and is open only to candidates who already have the right to work in New Zealand.
