We embrace and celebrate diversity and relish having people from all backgrounds and orientations working with us to achieve our goals through our core values:
Always Care - we care for each other, investors and ourselves.
Chase Remarkable - we make it loveable, be bold, take risks and set a new benchmark of achievement.
In It Together - we value the team and have each other’s back.
About the Role
The Tech Lead is a hands-on role, helping us build what’s next for Sharesies Personal. You’ll be joining a brand new team focused on bringing new financial products to life - starting with saving and insurance, and expanding into new areas over time.
This is a fast moving space. We move quickly, test early, partner with the best and build from scratch — turning bold ideas into real products for our 800,000+ customers (and growing!).
You’ll lead the technical direction for this space, working closely with product, design, and engineering within Personal and Sharesies more broadly, to deliver new experiences from zero to scale. You’ll bring experience building robust systems from the ground up, making smart architecture choices, and shipping MVP solutions that can grow.
You’ll also be confident working with external partners when it makes sense — and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to make things happen.
Key Tasks
● Set the technical vision and lead architecture decisions for new product lines within the Expansion Products space
● Lead engineering efforts across our Save and Insure products and help provide technical direction more broadly with Sharesies’ technical leadership
● Build and scale greenfield systems that are secure, performant, and easy to evolve ● Balance experimentation and speed with thoughtful, scalable design
● Work closely with external partners and third-party APIs — integrating solutions or co-creating them
● Understand the key goals of your Product Team, and support the Product Lead in determining technical priority and approach
● Collaborate with design, product, compliance, and marketing to deliver well-rounded, delightful customer experiences
● Manage, nurture and develop the Expansion Products technical team, building a team culture that supports our people to grow, fosters trust and fits with our Sharesies values. This will include recruiting, managing and coaching other developers
● Taking responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and your teammates
● Our roles can be flexible sometimes, we all pitch in and help out, so there may be times when other reasonable duties are required
How the Tech Lead fits at Sharesies
This role sits within the Sharesies Personal business unit, leading engineering across existing (Save, Insure) and new products as we ship them. This role reports to the Product Lead for Expansion
Products and will work closely with design, development, and your sister teams across Invest, Payments, and Australia.
You’ll also be an active member of our broader technology leadership community — collaborating with our central Tech Leadership team to ensure we’re aligned on approach, infrastructure, and ways of working.
As Tech Lead, you’ll guide the engineering direction of your team, shape how we build and scale new product experiences, and help turn early ideas into robust, secure, and scalable solutions.
