Founded in Australia in 2012, our team of over 300 Octonauts now spans the globe. We combine high growth and big ambitions with a sustainable, balanced working environment. Our revenue has grown consistently between 30–50% every year for the past 8 years, and we’ve been profitable for 10 out of the past 11 years.
We’ve been remote-first since 2015 and work with an uncommon level of transparency. You can read our
public handbook to learn how we work. We have a transparent approach to compensation that ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same, with well-defined career pathways.
We foster a supportive, collaborative, and high-trust environment. We leave our job titles at the door and focus on doing what’s best for our customers and team. Our leaders never shy away from answering the tough questions at our all-hands calls or in 1:1s. We conduct interviews and onboarding virtually as part of being a remote-first company.

Step 1 [30m] – Introductory call with Talent Acquisition to discuss your background, the role, and answer your questions.
Step 2 [90m] – Cultural Interview with 2 senior engineering leaders at Octopus, where we delve into your management experience – you will receive a preview of the questions we might ask in advance. We will also take time to answer your questions.
Step 3 [40m] – Technical Interview with a Principal Engineer and the Technical Lead from the team you will be joining. You will not be required to write code. Instead, they will be looking to see that you can understand and communicate technical concepts clearly.
We are hoping to simulate a real-life discussion of the sort that you may have with the engineers in your team to ensure that everyone can understand each other and work well together. The discussion will centre on one or more of the products or teams you have led in the past.
Step 4 [30m] – Final Team Interview – we introduce you to some of our cross-functional team members. This interview allows our engineers to build a sense of agency over who will lead and manage them. It is also another chance to ask us questions on top of your mind and learn from various perspectives and experiences of folks on the team.
