Join our small but dedicated team working on EdPotential, our school data analytics platform that helps New Zealand schools analyse and act on student assessment data to improve learning outcomes.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining and enhancing the EdPotential platform, ensuring that it delivers high-quality, secure and reliable data-driven insights to New Zealand educators.
We are looking for someone based in Wellington to join our close-knit team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Our office is located in Te Aro within the EndGame office space and hybrid working is available.
What you will do
- Gain a deep understanding of the existing legacy codebase alongside one other Wellington-based senior developer
- Develop, improve and maintain the EdPotential software platform
- Ensure high standards of software quality, security, maintainability and extensibility
- Troubleshoot and resolve code-level issues efficiently
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tools
- Conduct software testing, including both automated and manual tests
- Learn from domain experts to deepen your understanding of student educational data
- Create high-quality technical documentation for reference and reporting
- Support iterative product development and innovation
About you
- Wellington-based
- Senior-level Java development experience, including Spring framework
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- Experience working with GWT and AWS is a bonus
- Comfortable working with legacy codebases and improving existing systems
- Ability to work effectively both independently & collaboratively within a small team
- Proactive, solution-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Passion for education and educational technology is an advantage
