We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with strong system administration expertise to join our multi-disciplinary team working on cutting edge aerospace projects. This role requires a blend of scientific data analysis, software development, and infrastructure management to support mission-critical applications in a UNIX/Linux environment.
You will be responsible for handling large datasets, optimizing data pipelines, and maintaining robust backend systems for data processing and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize data processing pipelines for scientific analysis.
- Work with large datasets in a Linux environment, leveraging Python for data wrangling, visualization, and machine learning applications.
- Manage databases, ensuring proper clustering, replication, backup, and retention policies.
- Maintain and configure networking infrastructure and backend systems.
- Administer and troubleshoot UNIX/POSIX environments, including bash scripting, SSH, and Docker.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and version control using Git.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications with Docker and Docker Compose.
- Work with Proxmox (preferred) for virtualization and system management.
Requirements
System Administration Skills:
- Strong database management experience, including SQL and cluster replication.
- Advanced knowledge of UNIX/Linux, including bash scripting and SSH.
- Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and container orchestration.
- Familiarity with networking and back-end development.
- Proxmox experience is a plus.
Data Science Skills:
- Expert proficiency in Python for data analysis, visualization, and development.
- Strong knowledge of data wrangling, processing, and pipeline construction.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git version control.
Education
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or similar.
