We've been around since 2017 and are a fully remote team of 20+. Our R&D happens in New Zealand, our sales focus has been mainly in the US. We use modern tools like Slack, Jira and Zoom for communication and collaboration. We strive to minimize meetings, but also dedicate time to build a diverse and inclusive company culture. We are well funded (YCombinator, AirTree) and profitable.

About this role

A successful Product Manager at Thematic will work with our existing product team to execute the entire product life cycle, from ideation and development to launch and post-launch iteration.

This includes:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of our target market, customers, and competitive landscape
  • Learning how our product works, from the data model through to the NLP engine, backend services, and frontend features that customers interact with
  • Collaborating with leadership to define and prioritize the product roadmap
  • Preparing specifications and scoping projects
  • QA testing to ensure features work as intended and meet quality standards
  • Using customer feedback and usage data to drive improvements
  • Managing project timelines

You will report into our CTO, and will work alongside Front-End, Back-End and AI developers, as well as a dedicated Product Designer. You’ll get input from our customer-facing team and marketing team as needed. To help you succeed, we will ensure that there aren’t any barriers to speaking directly with customers.

  • Ideally 4+ years of experience launching and managing complex products
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with a variety of product validation techniques
  • Experience working in a fully remote environment with a distributed team (or wanting this to be your lifestyle)
  • Someone who enjoys continuously learning and growing
  • You will need to be based in New Zealand
What will help you succeed, but is not required
  • People management experience – there is an opportunity to lead a team, if this is something you’re looking for
  • Experience building SaaS products
  • We’re a small team so we all pitch in to get things done. If you’ve been part of a small team before, you’ll know what our culture is like.
  • Appreciation for visual design
Benefits
  • You'll have a base salary of $140,000-$160,000 per year (negotiable, and depends on level of experience), plus employee stock options.
  • You'll enjoy flexible working hours. Work late, work early, it's up to you how to plan your week.
  • You can work remotely from anywhere in the world during 1-2 months a year.
  • You'll work remotely in comfort. We'll pay $400 per month towards a private or a shared office space (tax free).
  • You’ll gain exposure to some of the world’s top tech brands, and be the one to build relationships with them!
  • You will be a part of a smart and high performing team that makes sure to have fun as well as work hard.
  • We organize regular team activities, as well as weekly Friday sessions where we bond as a team and learn about topics like "mushroom growing", "working while living in a camper van", "growing up behind the Iron Curtain", or play a fun game.
  • You’ll bond with the team in our annual company retreat. We've taken our entire team to both Hawaii and New Zealand in the past!

If any of the above resonates with you, we want to hear from you!
