The Role

We are looking for a dynamic Lead Software Engineer to join the Seequent team. Within this role you will have the opportunity to lead a team that works with modern cloud technologies to build the Internal Development Platform for Seequent.

This Internal Development Platform is critical for Seequent to thrive as an agile SaaS company that can release its market leading set of Evo applications and services quickly and confidently.  You will be a motivator, mentor, and a leader, enabling key infrastructure innovation to deliver successful business outcomes for Seequent.  You are someone who has experience working in any software development role that requires technical leadership.

Please note, this is a hybrid position to be based out of the Christchurch office. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the Development Platform Engineering pod in Christchurch, enhancing a self-serve infrastructure platform for Evo application deployment. Mentor team members and collaborate with the Development Platform Engineering Manger on long-term goals.
  • Efficiently manage the team by providing operational direction for their day-to-day work and ensuring alignment with the operational goals of the company.
  • Play a pivotal role in the strategic decision-making, influencing the evolution of Internal Development Platform.
  • Collaborate with Evo Development, Security, and Architecture teams to select, specify, schedule and estimate new features for the internal Development Platform.
  • Design and implement enhancements to the Internal Development Platform using modern cloud technologies.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent   
  • 7+ years working with cloud providers and technologies
  • 1+ year as a lead or technical leader of a team of Software Engineers would be an advantage  
  • Experience with or curiosity to learn the following tools: Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
  • Experience working with cloud providers like Azure and AWS 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD Pipelines (i.e. GitHub, Gitlab, etc.)
