The product design team is crucial to ensuring our customers are at the core of every product and design decision. Reporting to the Chief Executive Offer, the Product Design Manager is responsible for leading a team of product designers working with senior leaders to define the product design vision.
They will work cross-functionally with other engineering, marketing, customer care and product leads to solve customer needs and deliver business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Work with key stakeholders from around the business to agree and articulate the product design vision, ensuring that it aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to identify customer needs and business outcomes that should drive product design decisions.
- Provide strong design leadership to a team of product designers, guiding their professional growth and fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture within the company.
- Work closely with Product Management, Brand, and the Leadership Team to ensure our product design aligns with the overall product strategy and that we are delivering a consistent experience across all touch points.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, analysing how they might impact our business and incorporating them into our design decisions where appropriate. You will be responsible for ensuring that our product design stays current and competitive.
- Facilitate workshops, design sprints and other design thinking methodologies to foster a collaborative, user-centered design approach across the organisation.
- Act as a design evangelist, educating and inspiring others within the company on the value and importance of great design.
- Own development and maintenance of design systems and component libraries, ensuring design consistency and scalability across products.
- Partner with customer teams to conduct user research, usability testing, and analyse data to gain insights into user behaviour and preferences, informing design decisions and iterations.
You will
- Have 5+ years of experience in product design
- Have management experience leading a team of designers
- Have a passion for pragmatic user-centric design, delivering engaging experiences for both novice and advanced users alike
- Be able to demonstrate ability to solve complex problems and deliver business outcomes
- Be comfortable to clearly articulate a product vision and work incrementally to deliver on that vision
- Have experience working cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, and product teams
- Have prior experience in data-led decision making, and the ability to identify the key metrics that indicate the success of particular designs
- Have experience with multiple wireframing and prototyping tools, such as Figma, InVision, Adobe XD or Sketch
Bonus points for the following
- Previous experience in a fast paced start up or scale up in fintech or SaaS, or experience in payments / banking
- Experience being self-employed (freelancing, contracting etc.) in any industry/profession
