A Little About You

You're a generalist who is capable across back-end (Ruby/Rails/Postgres) and front-end (React/Typescript), or specialize in one area and are excited to learn and contribute in the other. You love staying on top of new tech and best practices in the industry, and you enjoy both sharing what you know and learning from others.

You thrive in a player-coach role, balancing hands-on tasks with mentoring your team. You work hard to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture and excel in cross-functional teams, delivering features that customers love. You’re driven by solving user problems and building intuitive, technically solid products. You move quickly and deliver iteratively.

Who We Are

Lyssna (formerly UsabilityHub) is a remote research platform that helps our customers deeply understand their audience and make informed decisions quickly. Our mission is to improve the quality of experiences in the world by putting people at the heart of solutions. Founded in 2008, we’re a bootstrapped B2B SaaS platform focused on sustainable growth, with a global, fully remote team. We’re growing and looking for top talent to help scale our mission.

How We Work

  • We’re impact-driven and passionate about delivering value to our customers, prioritizing delivery over perfection.
  • We support each other and understand that individual success is dependent on the success of everyone else. We invest in our personal and professional growth and consider learning, reflection, and up-skilling central to our jobs.
  • We’re a small but mighty team, competing with companies 2-4x our size.
  • We hire great people, give them autonomy, and value feedback to constantly improve.

Picture Yourself In The Role

If you were here for this sprint, you would have:

  • Shipped several updates to production as planned at the beginning of the sprint.
  • Had 1:1s with each of your team members, helping to unblock them, and work towards their personal goals.
  • Paired with Nick (CTO) and Paul (Engineering Team Lead) on refining our hiring process and plan out our hiring needs for the upcoming quarter.
  • Met with Maureen (Senior Product Manager) and Andrew (Product Design Manager) to discuss how the cross-functional product team you’re embedded in has been working together on the current major project.
  • Paired with Odin (Senior Software Engineer) to get input on the data modelling for a new feature you’re working on.
  • Mentored a report who’s tech leading a project for the first time.
  • Reviewed a merge request from Irene (Senior Software Engineer) and provided your feedback.
  • Done a design review with Sam (Senior Product Designer) to get her input on some UI you've built, and made some adjustments for polish while on the call.
  • Attended the engineering team meeting and discussed how we can improve our technical practices.
  • Recorded a demo of your work to share with the broader team in Slack.
  • Facilitated a retro with your product team, discussed an issue a team member raised that had slowed us down, and made a plan of action together to address it.
