We provide a group insurance policy administration and service delivery SaaS platform. Our customers are insurers and brokers serving the group insurance and employee benefits sector. Our international sales pipeline is solid and growing. We are based in Auckland.

About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced engineering lead and full stack developer to join us as we embark on the next stage of our exciting growth journey. The role is broad, but we will support you to ensure your success. You will have the necessary experience and skills for the role, but most importantly, you are passionate about and motivated by working with people and customers and shipping the best software possible. You genuinely want to make a difference.

While you have a primary role in the company, all of us at Sentro are involved in multiple parts of the business, and you will too. We very much work as a unit, and we transparently share information with each other about what is happening in the business.

We are a remote first company and ideally we want someone who is primarily Auckland based. Working from a home or other remote locations won’t suit everyone, but it offers a lot of flexibility and works very well for our customers and our team. You will work every day with every part of our business, but in particular our Customer Success team. We use modern collaboration tools and have a frequent deployment application development philosophy.

Purpose of the Role

· To provide a high standard of software development, technical support and proactive management of the company's software platform.

· To lead and coach the engineering team.

· Assist in identifying product enhancement opportunities for Sentro.

 

What You’ll Do

· Be passionately focused on developing high quality software that will meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.

· Working closely and collaboratively with other leaders in the business, you support, grow and mentor the engineering team’s technical abilities, improve development practices, and foster a supportive, curious, and pragmatic culture that helps us to deliver software that delights our customers.

· Work closely with the product and engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver new platform capabilities that help our customers make better data-driven decisions faster, and provide a superior insurance experience to their customers.

· Develop architecture and other technical documentation

· You’ll be front and centre dealing with the business and technical leaders of our customers and prospective customers, bringing business and commercial nous as well as technical capability to the conversations.

· You’ll be closely working with the Customer Success team to make our customer implementations smoother and faster each time

· You’ll help us recruit new software engineers.

 

What We’re Looking For

· Several years of software development with modern full stack experience, ideally in .NET and Angular

· Experienced in software testing and quality assurance processes, including automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

· Cloud infrastructure experience (ideally Azure) and infrastructure-as-code

· Experience leading a team of engineers and providing feedback and mentorship, ideally including working in a tech start-up and growth environment

· Empathy for and desire to truly understand the problems that our product analysts, customer success team and customers face, and enthusiasm for solving them

· Engineering experience in insurance, banking or accounting software would be ideal

· Experience in environments with formalized information security practices (such as ISO 27001 or SOC2)

· Appropriate tertiary qualifications in software engineering and/or related disciplines.

· Tech startup experience is strongly preferred, along with experience in a mature business, ideally working with B2B/Enterprise SaaS solutions

· Exceptional communication and organisational skills and ability to interact with diverse groups of technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels, internally and customer-facing

· Thrive on challenge and uncertainty, has a bias for action, is a natural collaborator.

· Solid understanding, expertise and interest in the evolution of technology, security and trends in B2B/Enterprise software solutions.
