About us

HeartLab's origins go back to 2018 when CEO Will Hewitt was studying at The University of Auckland and working as a researcher at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute.

Motivated by a shared interest in artificial intelligence, and how it could impact healthcare he teamed up with cardiologist Dr Patrick Gladding to start HeartLab, to build next-generation software for cardiologists.

Since then, HeartLab has seen huge growth, raised multiple investment rounds, and grew to over 20 staff. Since day one though, the core focus has been building world-leading software that helps people.

Heartlab has been named as one of New Zealand's most promising early-stage companies, in the 2021 Technology Investment Network report.

We're a proud Kiwi medical device company, with a shared passion to build innovative new products which revolutionise the way doctors analyse echocardiograms. Our team comes from a diverse range of backgrounds from space medicine at NASA, to building race cars.
